Step responses are custom answers that can be attached
to Forms.
For example, if you want inspectors to answer a question using 'Good', 'Fair',
or 'Poor', you can create a step response. There are three types of step responses: numeric value, text value, and
list. Below is an example of each one.

Step by Step Instructions
To add a numeric step response, start by logging into the web app:
- Click Forms.
- Click Step Responses.
- Click the green plus sign.
Let’s say you need to know the
temperature of a room:
- Enter a Step Name. The name should be
specific, so you know what you are selecting when you are building your
forms.
- Select a Response Type (numeric).
- Select a Pass/Fail Type. (None means this response does not result in a pass or fail, you
simply need to know the temperature of the room. Pass/Fail means specific temperatures would pass, and others
would fail. Range means a specific range of temperatures would pass. All
others would fail.)
- Select a Control Type. (Default is a text box the inspector can type the temperature in. Slider is a numbered bar, and the inspector slides to the
number that applies.)
- Enter Start and End Values. If the inspector
chooses a number between these values, the response will pass.
- Enter the Min and Max Values. This specifies what
numbers the inspector is allowed to enter or choose from.
- Click Publish.
- Enter a Step Name.
- Select a Response Type (text value).
- Select a Pass/Fail Type. (None means this response does not result in a pass or fail, you
simply need to know the color of the room. Pass/Fail means specific colors would pass, and all other entries would fail. For example, if you had a Pass
Values as ‘RED,BROWN,GREEN’ and the user typed BLUE, then this would be a fail,
but if they typed BROWN it would Pass.)
- Enter the Pass Values. (e.g. RED,BROWN,GREEN)
- Click Publish.
To add a list step response, change the Response Type. Let’s say you need to know the condition of a piece of equipment:
- Enter a Step Name.
- Select a Response Type (list).
- Select the Control Type. (Buttons will show all available
answers immediately, and the inspectors chooses the answer that applies. Drop Down will force the inspector
to open a drop-down menu to see the available answers.)
- Click List.
- Click the green plus sign to start adding answers.
- Enter the Item Text. This is the answer the inspector
will see.
- Select a Pass/Fail type.
- Optional: Choose a Color to match the answer. The color can help identify which answers are 'better' than others.
- Optional: Enter a Weight. is optional as well. (e.g. Equipment in Good condition may get 2
points, Fair condition may get 1 point, and Bad condition may get 0 points.)
- Optional: Require
a Comment if this answer is selected.
- Optional: Require
a Photo is this answer is selected.
- Repeat steps 2-8 until the list is complete, then click Publish.
- Click Forms.
- Select Forms.
- Click New Form, or click an existing form.
To edit a step response, click the pieces of white paper, then click
the pencil icon.
