If you receive an error message stating “The file couldn’t open in Protected View.” follow these steps:

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click File.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Click Trust Center.
  5. Click Trust Center Settings…
  6. Click Protected View.
  7. Uncheck the first box “Enable Protected View for files originating from the internet”.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Re-open the file.
